Watercolourscape by Whiluna Watercolourscape by Whiluna
Erm,so yeah my first landscape picture, used watercolours!
I always loved to paint with watercolour ,and of course i had to include Rascal too :D
I wanted to try that salt trick but it didnīt really work, even if the paper was wet and the paint wasnīt dry yet it still didnīt work,no idea what did i do wrong.
But iīll try it agan next time, hoping to have more luck with it xD

Ah salt.
I don't know if it was answered already for you, but basically salt works best on areas of darker colors. Since what's it's doing is soaking up the water/pigment around the area it falls in, you want to make sure it's still wet. As in right after you paint it. And there should be enough paint/water so that you can clearly see the water against paper. Hard to describe.. but as long as it's still watery and the color is dark enough, it'll be really obvious. It works with lighter colrs too but the effect isn't as dramatic.

Oh, I love this! The salt trick is tricky...it took me two times to get it right (two separate trials on two separate pieces I did)

Anyway, great job with the watercolour; it's fantastic!

You're welcome!

And, what I did was I took my paper and a wet brush (with no paint on it) and washed the paper where I wanted the salt to be. Then I painted the paper wet-on-wet and quickly sprinkled the salt onto it. After a few minutes I dusted the salt off and there were little snowflake-like marks where the salt grains had been :)
