A small fan art between some commisions!
Im happy with this yaaay!

What did you thought? Why was Nala always a better "fighter" and hunter? He could always beat Simba and she was always better. Why?Because Scar was the one who teached her since she was a small cub!
While Mufasa was telling fairy tales about the circle of life to Simba.Nala found a way to become a real a lion.
The lionesses always hunted and Mufasa rarely went with them.He always got everything because he was the king. But Scar had to hount for himself and sometimes for the hyenas too.
Thats just my theory of course :D

So hope you like it ^^

They better watch where they chase those wildebeest; might end up driving them into a gorge and killing someone. ;)

Lone male lions do a lot more hunting than male lions in a pride, and they tend to hunt singly or in small groups much more often than female lions do. It really would be reasonable for Nala to have learned hunting from Scar (aside of the fact that a lone male lion would simply kill an unrelated cub). Also, I'm gonna guess Scar is the sneakiest, trickiest, most under-handed hunter there is... good stuff for Nala to learn if she wants to survive in a harsh world. It would also give a reason why Scar let her live after he took over the pride (no real male lion would ever let a cub that was not his survive a day after taking over a pride)... he kinda respects her, just a little.

... on the other paw... what if Scar is secretly Nala's father??? :P

Sorry don't mean to throw this at you but males lions don't always, or even that often, kill the existing cubs in a pride they take over. Yes, they do sometimes, but it isn't as harsh and terrifyingly common as people think.

Yeah... so true... but it does happen sometimes! :D

Yeah but...its so sad to apply it to TLKverse xD Poor cubs!
BrentOGara Featured By Owner Sep 10, 2013  Hobbyist Digital Artist
Yes... it is sad... but it's also exactly the kind of thing Scar would do... so sad or not, it's a real possibility... and explains why Nala is the only cub/juvenile lion you see (besides Simba, of course) after the time-skip.

I always saw Scar as just being the "I want to rule the kingdom but to be honest I don't care what happens when I'm dead" type so I figured his character wouldn't care at all who lives beyond Mufasa and Simba lol I think he just wanted his chance in the sun.
And really you don't see any other cubs at all in the movie so even if Scar was a cub-killer, if there's only Nala, a female, he probably just went "meh" haha

Though if you go by the semi-canon stories as well, there's Chumvi and Kula at least and their story takes place after Mufasa and Simba are gone and Scar takes over which would imply he's more 'human'-based than lion.

I dunno, sorry I jumped in haha

Yeah, Scar is a short-sighted silly jerk, and really is human-based, so you are totally right about his personality, and the kinds of things he would do. He just doesn't have the long-term planning to make a really effective usurper, he's just in it for the evulz. Your reasoning is pretty clear, I can't argue with any of it, 'cause you are right... and that's just wrong... other people are not allowed to be right... that's my job! ;)
