I'll be honest, i literally have nothing negative to say about this piece. I rarely feel the need to give my opinion when asked for a Critique under a deviation, but this time, i felt it.
Firstly, Rascal is an amazing cross bred character, and the way *DarthMischee has portrayed his anatomy is simple perfection, the front paws and strong shoulder muscles shows this well. Although Rascal is centered directly in the middle of the canvas, which can often bode ill for character placement, it works flawlessly and he simply seems to belong. Lets talk about lighting, or shading, depending on who you are, it isn't always easy to get right and is something a lot of artists struggle with, but here we see the light accentuating all of Rascal's detailed features, as well as being realistic and true to the light source. As for emotion, well, that depends on who's viewing this amazing piece of artwork, for me, Rascal seems thoughtful and determined, perhaps towards a cause, ready for something if you will, but no matter how you interpret his emotion, it is true strength that is emanating from Rascal. Finally, the environment that *DarthMischee has lured Rascal into, is beyond fitting, its dry, desolate and full or impact, which works so well with the emotion in this piece, as well as a understandably dark.
I only have a few words to say, but it has to be in a one hundred word version. So, I love your style and shading! You really capture the King of the Jungle. I love how you mixed the lion into a goat. I love mythical creatures, and this appears to be a very creative combination. I have to congratulate you on this, mostly because i could never do it. So, congrats! A thing I would like to acknowledge is the shading. You really capture the shadows and lighting of a real creature! I adore the texture of the fur and the authenticity of the animal. In other words, you have to be the best artist I know for the moment. That is a big compliment coming from me!
